THE ONE BIG THING NOT TO DO THIS RAINY-SEASON

With the advent of the rainy season this December, some drivers and friends may release part of the gas inside the tires before driving on a rainy day according to their own driving "experience", reducing the tire pressure and flattening the tires. By doing so, this will increase the contact area, increasing the friction and preventing the tire from sliding . But this approach has very limited effects. Instead, it may increase your chances to be prone to traffic accidents!

When the car brakes, the tires requires pressure to drain the rain through the drain to stop the car. The tire surface area becomes larger, while the pressure on the ground area decreases, resulting in a weakened braking force. During raining and wet weather conditions, the friction decreases and the taxiing distance becomes longer. HENCE, some may have the misconception that a larger surface area will increase the friction between the wheels and the tire... BUT THIS IS NOT EXACTLY TRUE!!!

During rainy days, a layer of water film will forms between the tire and the ground as the freeway in the rain runs. When the car speeds up to 80 kilometers per hour, the water film will completely separate the tire and the ground, and therefore the tire does not touch the ground while driving, similar to what a motor boat experiences when moving on the sea.
If the tire continues to maintain an abnormal pressure state, it is prone to skidding, drift tail, causing security risks.

So rainy day driving, do not deliberately reduce the tire pressure. At the same time regularly check whether the tire wear too much, timely replacement is also necessary.

Each car manufacturer has a prescribed standard value for tire pressure, including the tire safety tire pressure limit we want to know.

Many of my friends will all know that if the tire pressure is too high it will increase the wear and tear of the tire. Prolonged high temperature driving or serious impact, will easily lead to flat tire.
However, the tire pressure is too low will cause deformation of the sidewalls, the internal wire, curtain aging step worse. So, what exactly is the correct tire pressure ?
Don't worry, although high temperature will make the internal tire gas expand and contract, tire manufacturers have already taken into account in the design, given the normal tire pressure is also suitable for summer hot weather, even running at high speeds with no problem.

Therefore, under normal driving conditions, even if the hot summer, as long as the manufacturer can be inflated to the tire does not need to reduce the tire pressure on their own. The standard air pressure can usually be found in the user's manual for the vehicle, the label next to the cab door (near the B-pillar), the rim on the rear of the door, and some on the fuel cap.

In order for it to be acceptable to reduce the tire pressure, it must meet two conditions:
Firstly, it should not be less than 10% of the recommended value, and secondly, it should not activate the tire pressure alarm.
In addition, we should always not use cold water to cool the tire, due to uneven contraction of the tread and sidewall rubber layer and crack.
There are a variety of reasons that causes a flat tire puncture :
1)Tires being old or corroded
Often, if there are countless small cracks on the pattern, or if they are wrinkled, basically the tire needs to be replaced regardless of whether the tire is worn or not.

2) Using a COIN to make a simple test

If part of the pattern is still blocked inside, then that basically can be used; however if the whole pattern cannot be seen, then the tire have to be changed.
Deformation of the cord breaks The interior of the tire has many cords (steel wire or high-strength nylon wire) to pull and hold the entire tire. If the tire pressure is insufficient in due to the state of the traffic it will usually cause deformation that can be severe.

3) Tire wear and tear
If the tire is worn out or the tire surface incurs injuries, it will also cause flat tire, so we usually need to check the appearance of the tire itself, when the car is stationary.

Therefore, the tire is a consumable that will wear out, even if you drive a small mileage, therefore it also requires regular replacement and inspection of the tires.
It is generally recommended to change the tires every three to five years, with a mileage of five to one hundred thousand kilometers or so, as well with accordance to the degree of wear and tear of the tire.
