Can tap water be used as your car glass cleaning water?

Tap Water may be the choice of many car owners.

However, is it the right choice to use when maintaining/cleaning your car windscreen?

In Singapore, with abundance of birds, insects and trees, bird droppings, insects' bodies and gums dripping onto the glass and the hood are always unavoidable.

Many car owners like us will choose to use tap water to clean, but it is often overlooked by us ....THAT ACTUALLY YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO SO!!!!

Firstly, glass water is the common product for car windshield washes, which are consumables used in the automobile grooming industry. The components comprises Mainly of water, alcohol, ethylene glycol, corrosion inhibitors and a variety of surfactants.

Still not! Although these DIY glass of water can also be used, but there are some hidden dangers of these practices:

1)Washing powder-type glass of water:

There will be some sediment in the washing powder water, a long time, not only will corrode the rubber tube, and will block the nozzle, in severe cases causing damage to the motor.

2) Detergent-based glass of water: The main ingredients in detergents are sodium alkyl sulfonate, sodium alginate ether sulfate, foaming agents, solubilizers, flavors, water, pigments, etc., are actually chemical components. General detergents are alkaline, while the rubber will have certain corrosive substance, which will accelerate the catalytic wipers strip hardening. Hardened strips will scratch the windshield, affecting the performance of the windshield surface and ultimately causing scratches to your car windscreen. If you change the wiper again, the cost will be several times more than purchasing the glass cleaner.

These practices are likely to rust to your water pipes, and after a long time; there spray nozzle weakens and may even result in a blocked nozzle.

When the car lacks windshield water, their will be indications on the dashboard requiring you to immediately give your attention to it.

In a country like Singapore where the weather is humid, it is also recommended that owners check their water catchment area on a frequential basis, so as to prevent any possible mosquito breeding on a time to time basis.
